Today I held a seminar detailing how to make your extracurriculars good and how to find some for yourself and it was called High School Extracurriculars 101. But for people who missed it I did keep a full for everything you need to know and for those who attended I am indeed grateful and look over these notes for anything you may need in the future. Here is my summary:
Choose a college major that aligns with your strengths, passions, and background, as it forms the foundation for your extracurricular activities and future success.
When selecting a major, evaluate your strengths, assess your academic background, research the day-to-day requirements, and match it to your passions and interests.
Structure your extracurricular activities (ECs) to maximize their impact on college applications by aligning them with your chosen major and demonstrating leadership and commitment.
Make sure that whatever ecs you do that you can handle and make a good and impressive impact or accomplishment in them, but more still is great if you can handle it.
Take your ECs to the next level by assuming leadership roles, starting new initiatives, and measuring your impact with specific, quantifiable results.
Craft your EC story to connect directly with your chosen major and career goals, demonstrating growth, leadership, and skill development in your field.
Showcase leadership in various ways, such as leading projects, mentoring others, or taking initiative, even if you're not the president of a club.
Pursue passion projects that align with your interests to demonstrate creativity, commitment, and proactive problem-solving skills.
